Nobody Expects the Scottish Inquisition
Wee Heavy - 7.5%

Aroma: orange bitters, burnt sugar, sweet bread
Flavor: dark cherry, honey glazed scone, treacle
Hops: Bravo
Additions: Heather Tips

Meet No One Expects the Scottish Inquisition, our 7.5% Scotch Ale.

See what we did there?

You know we're a clever bunch.

Scotch Ale, more commonly known as a Wee Heavy, typically packs the highest alcohol concentration of the Scottish Ale varieties. Full-bodied, with robust malt flavors and aromas, notes of fruit and sweet bread, and little to no hop aroma or flavors.

What? No hops?

Scottish styles were traditionally brewed with heather tips to help balance the malty sweetness before hops became widely available.

Who are we to deviate from tradition?

Good stuff from Liability Brewing Co..We're brewing a Ukrainian Golden Ale this week.

Never heard of it? Don't worry, we hadn't either until recently. From the words of its greatest champion, Lana Svitankova:

"Not yet a teenager, Ukrainian Golden Ale was inspired by Belgian traditions but brewed to local tastes. Originally a mere local brew-pub hit, it has grown to become a market staple with substantial production volumes nationwide."

Characteristics of the style include:
* Golden in color from the heavy use of pale malt with the optional use of wheat and caramel malts
* Low to medium bitterness and hop aroma/flavor from any variety of hops
* Neutral yeast profile or a very restrained phenol producing Belgian strain
* Some versions feature coriander seeds (which ours will!)
* Medium body with medium to high carbonation
* ABV in the 6.1 - 7.5% range

Sounds delicious to us.

Jeremy is on the brew deck this week with his Ukrainian Golden Ale recipe.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to UNICEF Ukraine.
